Sharks Supporters Thread

Marius Jonker had a shocker, didn't he? But then it's never amazing how he always seems to find his worst when the Sharks are playing and he's reffing. Chop.

Well played to the boys, despite every attempt by the third force to see them lose. We still have big issues in midfield defence though.

Thought Keegan's yellow card was very dubious.. Considering how many mistakes we made in the first half very pleased we got away with the win.

Notice how they didn't show it again on any replay?

Marius Jonker really shouldn't be allowed to ref any game where the Sharks are playing. His bias is so blatant it is an embarrassment to the nation.

@Pixual

I just want to clarify.

Jonker was biased towards the Cheetahs and wanted the Sharks to lose?

To be honest I thought he was crap both ways. The second yellow card was a shocker but I can also remember one line out where the Sharks committed two infringements but instead of being penalized the line out was reset. Would be interested to see the penalty count..

See what happens when we swing the ball :) Our tackling has improved. Jacobs, once again, added fire to the backline when he came on. The forwards had a good game, although Kanko didn't play as well as we know he can. The team needs to ask themselves why the increased performance in the 2nd half can't be done in the 1st. I really thought the Cheetahs would screw us again.

With 13 men on the field the team did well to not throw it away.

I thought he deserved it. You cannot reach around the ruck with your leg and kick the ball out when the other team is about to handle it. Anyone see Smits face when he got away with being penalised? hehehe his hand was on the ground during a scrum and the ref didn't see it, and we got a penalty for something the Cheetahs did in that scrum. He looked like a child that did something naughty and didn't get seen :p

Was definitely a penalty but no different to many other spoiling infringements that get ignored, if refs are going to be that harsh on killing opponents ball then be consistent. I also think that if a ref is going to reduce a team to 13 men then it better for something a lot worse than simply spoiling possession 40 metres out from the tryline.

The try that Jacobs created was class, I especially like the way he directed his back line after he took the gap - he knew a try was on and he made sure of it :-)

True. I can't remember if there were infringements before that from our guys. Maybe the ref had had enough and Daniels was the unlucky guy to get the card.

That was enjoyable to watch! He had 3 teamies to choose from!

The critical supporter in me feels as though he shouldn't have had to tell them to support him... team-mates should be right there with him. I know it was a breakaway but its infuriating seeing other teams popping the ball to oncoming support and we aren't able to do it..

Lions next week! Not sure how I see this game going.

@ Critical supporter - Agreed, although the way certain parts of our back line have been playing this season it's no wonder he felt a little coaching was needed :-)

That is generally what I was implying. The second yellow was typical of the way Jonker refs the Sharks. He's got a history of very dodgy decisions against them. That could have cost us the game and if it had I reckon he should have been suspended without pay for the balance of the tournament.

What a finish! Fantastic comeback! I don't know what we were doing for the first 50 minutes because it looked like we were well on our way to a good hiding. We hardly had the ball and each time we got some momentum going we'd lose it. The substitutions instantly gave us a much needed boost and we started to play some really good and exciting rugby.

Why do we always make it so difficult for ourselves

Amazing game, I think I might just start setting my alarm for the second half in future. Now all we have to do is beat the bulls at Loftus, eish..

Really not good enough from a team that has won the Currie Cup twice in the last three seasons. It's like they don't have a game plan at all. The Bulls will destroy them in 30 minutes if they play like that again.

Tough job, but it is doable! Loftus is sold out and it will be a cup final atmosphere.

Should be an awesome game, Sharks have raised their game at Lotfus before. I think if they can keep the Bulls from getting easy points in the first 30 they will be in with a decent shout.
