Sharks Supporters Thread

That was woeful, but I saw it coming a few weeks ago. There is no fire in these guys, no desire to win this thing. They had so much possession and they just didn't know what to do with it. Bulls will go past them because the Cheetahs are also going to whip our asses. And the Waratahs.

Far too many basic errors for us to to even think about contesting the Bulls.

Whats up with the backline lately? The line is way too flat and they take forever to get back in position. At the beginning of the season we had a potent line, but now...

Are you a Sharks supporter or is Bulls or Cheetahs? Yes, there were a lot of errors and it was painful to watch, but surely a supporter tries to find the positives and looks for the way to the top? Maybe my optimism blinds me to something which should be obvious to me about some imminent collapse. Be that as it may, I am happy to support the Sharks through thick and thin ;)

Be a supporter, but don't be blind about it. This team is nothing like they were in the Currie Cup last year. I'm afraid Plumtree has made some bad mistakes in player retention and selection. Lambie is just too erratic at flyhalf and Terblanche cannot play at centre. He's a fullback. Whether he's better than Ludik is debatable.

My positional opinions:

I would seriously consider playing Kankowski at inside centre long before I put Terblanche or Jacobs in that slot.
Drop Bismarck Du Plessis from the starting lineup and play Burdon instead.
Make a serious offer to Willem De Waal and get him playing here. The man is the most under-rated flyhalf in the country. I think he'd rock at the Sharks. What have the Stormers done with him?
I would give the captaincy to Keegan Daniel.

I agree. (except the De Waal part :p)

Lets not forget Mvovo. We've a potential Springbok starter warming our bench (why oh why is he not starting?!). Odwa is not as fast as he used to be and Mvovs is fast and powerful - when he gets the ball things happen. Something in our attacking play has changed for whatever reason. Lambie no longer looks to get the ball out to the wing as quick as he can and instead opts for crash ball with a forward or centre. Maybe the coaches have tried to go in a new direction and it is not paying off. Whatever the reason is they need to go back to basics.

We cannot have Deysel, Alberts and Botes playing at the same time. Daniels or Kanko need to be starting because they create opportunities for others to feed off.

We need to get our A into G for these last few weeks. Its the Waratahs this weekend and they can do some serious damage if we're not up to scratch.

De Waal is a points machine. When he was playing for the Cheetahs he was pinpoint all the time. I rate him higher than Morne Steyn.

De Waal is the old school of boring ..... all he can do is kick. Nothing else at all. He got dropped from the Stormers.

He may be boring, but he can win you games with his boot. He cant do any worse than any one else the Sharks have played at flyhalf since the French guy left.

My backline for the Sharks would look like this:

9 - Cockett
10 - De Waal
11 - Mvovo
12 - Kankowski
13 - Strauss
14 - Pietersen
15 - Lambie

Yeah I'd rather stick with someone like Lambie at 10 because he shows creativity and best of all, he's still young and learning as he goes. I do also wish they would play Mvovo much more, he is a nice talent to have. I'm getting peed off with McLeod, he's never been good and now he's even worse, meh.

We should never have let him go.

I'd really like to see Burden at centre; he played wing before being moved to hooker and with his pace and size he could be devastating in the backline.

Craig Burden was one of the most impressive wings in the Currie Cup in 2006, but on the insistence of then Sharks coach - now Springbok assistant coach - Dick Muir the Maritzburg College old boy attended the Murray Mexted Academy in New Zealand to start his conversion from an outside back to a tight forward.

At least he's better than Pienaar! Please don't ever let us be afflicted with that sorry excuse of a rugby player again. :)

I think this could work, he has the size and pace, would certainly be worth a try considering how uninspiring our current centres are.

Some interesting ideas, I like it though!

The very core of the problem is that our centres are fairies. Seriously Terblanche at centre is a horrible Idea, he's just too old. Bosman is just too useless, and well we don't have much others. Our team has been screwed up since the CC. Sharks management only have themselves to blame.

Agree. This is usually what happens to them in a season after they have done well. Too much puza and pizza and running around telling everyone how good they are. In rugby you're only as good as your last game.

But one thing that really sucks is this new S15 format. Like I really want to watch us play the Bulls again?

Amen, would much rather see us play the Reds. With regards to recruitment or lack thereof, am not surprised it's such a mess up with Rudolf Straeuli in charge..

Well he has no hope at hooker for the foreseeable future and he certainly couldn't worsen the backline at the moment...:o
