Hey ;)

Where can I find a Vista compatible fairly priced sheetfed scanner?

I need a scanner that can take about 30 documents and scan it all, then I'll just sort it on the pc, is it possible?

Thanks,
tera

Edit: also known as an ADF scanner ;)

Hey teraside,

You're basically looking for a scanner with an Automatic Document Feeder.

Important questions would be...

What kind of quality do you need to scan at? Is it simply text or high quality images?
What kind of volumes and speed are you looking at scanning? If it's high volumes, a heavy duty scanner may be required.
What is your budget? I almost always ask clients this question off the bat, no point in looking at ferraris if you can only afford a mini ;)

A good option might be a multi-function unit, seeing as they have an ADF built in and provide all the other features as well, but they're normally fairly slow and limited in capacity.

It's simply text and hand written text as well, so the quality needs to be average I suppose ;)

Well, looking to my left I see about 200 pages that need processing, but this will be once every 4 months, it won't be everyday.

What is your budget?

Not much, it's a soho operation, so I'd say alternatively, anything @ R2k or less.

Thanks for the help quik ;)

Kodak i30 ADF scanner - cost +-R6000

we use it for all out image scanning, waybills, pods, invoiced docs, etc etc, good resolution, enough to read barcodes clearly.. excellent scanning speeds..
about 2500 pages an hour i think.

Ok, if you just want a scanner for occasional use, a multi-function inkjet might be best:

Canon PIXMA MX310

They retail from about R1300, and it's about the lowest cost machine with an ADF.

Most standalone scanners with ADF are built for high volumes, and are therefore more expensive.

I've taken a look at rentals and it seems I can get a real ADF scanner for roughly R200 per month. I'll let you know what I decide ;)

You also need to decide if you want scanning on both sides of the page, if you do, the Kodak does both sides in a single pass

Thanks bekdik, I'll take a look at it ;)
