Shell reportedly preparing to exit South Africa

Can’t use a pnp smartshopper or clicks card at shell so no loss to anyone.

But are the petrol stations not just franshises?
Then they can just get supplied by someone else and do a rebranding?

Because companies are not stupid to invest or do business in a new country where they have to give ownership away to some black person because the government and laws says so. Easier and more cost effective to leave the country alone so it can die a quiet death.

So Total, Sasol, Engen etc, that is here already here would not supply to more stations?

We are not a new country. Shell has been here a century. Shell had also actively participated in BEE until a BEE deal went tits up.

V power rewards. Gives 0.5% back. Shell really can fck off.

V+ Rewards :)
Your V+ balance is R4.80
The competition continues, if you won R10 000, what would you do with it? Let SHELL FUEL YOUR DREAMS.
T&Cs apply

I just have to make sure I redeem my R4.80 before they leave.

We should have a poll on who actually believe that Shell will leave the country. This sounds more like a call my bluff situation.

True but where is the choice?
India is the largest refiner of oil products in the world. I'm sure both countries being part of BRICS+, we can come to some agreement for import of refined fuel at a good price, maybe even slightly cheaper. Only problem is the ANC having more to steal...

“robbed and used”

Ag please. The forking BEE shareholding was practically pasella to start with. Forced by a banana republic government that can't figure out how to do business normally. Getting it and then trying to cash in on it is the attempted robbery. Forced entry. Pawning the loot to a fence. What should Shell have done? If their BEE partner sold, then they would need a new one. Should they have just lined up a pound of flesh for the next eager cadre beneficiary to keep complying with BEE??? The fact that they didn't shows clearly the cANCer has pushed this scheme as far as they can with them. Juice not worth the squeeze.

Where are they going to go to, back to Europe where everyone is moving to EV?

It would be dumb for any fuel company to pull out of 3rd world countries. It's those countries that are going to be last to move to EV...

The news reportedly follows a dispute between the oil giant and its long-term BEE partner, Thebe Investment Corporation, over an R3.7-billion stake in Shell Downstream South Africa (SDSA).

In any pyramid scheme, it's usually the downstream that suffers ...

Shell can bugger right off, especially after their planned seismic exploration around the Wild Cosat kicked up a huge uproar. Most people down here started boycotting them in 2021 already anyway.

RIP V+ rewards, I would rank up come cash and spoil myself with junk food in their shop.
