Shipping a PC tower overseas

I'm looking at moving back to the UK next year and all that that involves.

My rig at the moment is pretty good and I don't particularly want to part with it, so my question is, is it within the realms of doability to safely ship a PC tower overseas?

When my rig arrived it was couriered up from CPT, but I'm just wondering if a trip to the big smoke provincial airport might just be a bridge too far, or am I being over worried?

Obviously everything would be backed up and the actual PC insured.

Anyone had any experience of this?

What about shipping over the components you want and buying a new case on the other side, might be easier, much less weight.

I was thinking something along those lines too..

Definately take it apart and buy a new case up there. You will save a huge amount of volumetric weight you would otherwise be charged for.
