Good Day Everyone,

Could you possibly please provide me with a few suggestions at to where I can take my vehicle to get its shock absorbers tested.

I have been to the two following shops but both of their machines have been broken for months:

  • BestDrive in Cresta on Beyers Naude Drive
  • TWT Cresta on Beyers Naude Drive

I live in Randburg so any suggestions with 20km would be preferable.

Thank you everyone

Tyremart Randburg, Bram Fischer Drive, Randburg, Republic of South Africa, NORTHGATE TYRES & EXHAUST, Supaquick in Kyasand. Google gives quite a few options :-)

Supaquick, TWT or MotoLube - all by Fourways Crossing.

I don't think their machines are broken, I think they are just not interested in testing shocks.

I just push on the vehicle. If it bounces back everything is fine. =)

If the car dives when you brake = not fine

Patches of wear on the tyre = not fine

Check the mileage you have done on the current shocks - If its the front chances are it could be other things like control arm bushes for example.

Pretty much this :-)

If it bounces more than once, or wobbles time to have them replaced / checked

why do you want to test them? how many KM have they done? what car is it on?

2007 Mercedes Benz CLK 500 with 124000km
Have absolutely no idea whether shocks have been replaced at all.
Rear of the vehicle bounces around a lot. Especially under acceleration.

At those kilometres they are probably worn, even if they were replaced before it must have been long ago.

Not necessarily I have driven cars to higher mileage than that without changing shocks

I have too, the shocks were worn but I continued driving the thing, I was broke. :D

I guess it also depends on where the car is driven, on good roads they would last longer.
