Today, I feel like owning the world.

Its kind of silly, but I heard about shopping at US online stores and have it shipped to my address using a shipment forwarder. Man was I anxious! Just imagine. Ordering goods which costs a couple of grand, and you have to trust all these people and still get your parcel safe and sound....

I'm not paid to write this - I am revealed, happy and overwhelmed. If you ever think of using someone to take care of your shipment - the answer is shipito.com

I cannot express my satisfaction.

No experience with them.

But I know what I have now, what to expect and what I pay - so I'll stick with them ;-) Looking forward to order some stuff from hong kong and china next year when my budget has recovered ;-) They have branches over there.

But, I am really glad for you - cause it seems that sometimes some shipment forwareders may turn out as a never-ending disaster!

Thanx for your opinion ;-)

Comparing the two at quick glance , myus.com seems to have more options [but have a initial setup fee] . shipito seem to be completely free until you actually ship something.

Although i must say that myus.com feature whereby they can buy things on your behalf [i.e. they pay a company with their credit card and then charge your card themselves] is nifty. This is specifically where a company for some reason is not accepting non-USA credit cards.

Hi there.

Shipito offers shop assistance too, and there is a monthly fee. I had purchases at Amazon only, but when some US retailer accepts US cc's only, their shop assistance will come handy too. I think they offer mainly similar services, I guess its just a personal choice. Some of the main reasons why I'd stick with shipito, is because they have global warehouses, I think Hong Kong, China, Japan etc. I'll have to check to say where else that have warehouses. So if I need to use the warehouse / services in China, I already have my account active and can simply use the warehouse in China. No hassles, and I am guaranteed at personal and professional service. Yes, speaking of the latter - service. One can have the biggest warehouse, even all over the world,. Without service, it means nothing. I'd pay more for service. And thats another major reason why I love shipito.

In life, if something works well, stick to it. And shipito is the one I'll stick to ;-)

Your comment is welcome, thanx!

Hi. I dont like talking in the air without facts.

So, I quickly checked.

Shipito.com -

Set-up fee - No
Monthly fee -
-- One time shipment -> No
-- Permanent virtual mailbox - Yes, at a monthly fee of 10USD, depends on if you want to receive parcels only, or regular mail too
-- Mail-out fee for magazines, 1USD only!
-- Consolidation services -> yes
-- FedEx discount (are you kidding me?) - massive discounts. at least a third of what I would have paid should I ordered fedex myself, to ship my shipment.
-- Storage, yes, 45 days free storage
-- Assisted purchases - yes
-- Warehouses (you can use any of them) in Honk Kong, China, Japan, Las Vegas, Memphis, Portland, and Torrance

oh, something else, to add, which is just, WOW!

They actually do accept paypal. The one and only.

;-)

Do they ship directly to your house bypassing the S.A postal service or do they sill use the post office as a link in the chain?

I've received more than one empty or partial order when collecting from the Post Office which is worse than not receiving anything at all. If the whole package dissapears it could have gotten lost. If it arrives with stuff missing you KNOW your stuff has been stolen by SA Postal workers!

It depends on the shipping option you pick. DHL / Fedex Express courier the stuff right to your doorstep , but if you choose those "Airmail" type of options it will go via Post Office. All these forwarding services allows you to pick what to use mostly.

But overall the forwarding services are at least DOUBLE more expensive than shipping directly from the USA shop [if they do international shipping]. Amazon.com will ship you stuff via DHL Express to your doorstep for $20, same item via forwarders will be $50 easily . So i would only use a forwarder as a last resort, but it is useful to use the address you receive from the forwarding services for these places that require a USA address (so you don't need to dream one up, at least if something gets send there it might actually reach you). MyUS.com also gives you a USA phone number which you can access from here.

amazon ship vith dhl express?

how would I do that?

thanx

Yes they do, they shipped my Kindle here in like 2 days. They don't ship all product types, but start here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_468520_intl596184?ie=UTF8&nodeId=596184
The following items can be shipped to almost all destinations outside the U.S.:

* books*
* DVDs
* music
* VHS videos

Additionally, some consumer electronics, health and personal care, home and garden, jewelry, pet supplies, shoes, software, sporting goods, tools, video games, and watches can be shipped to the following countries:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa , Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom

Visit our Amazon Global Program store to browse products that are available for shipping to these destinations.

All products shipped to these countries via Priority International Shipping, and in certain cases product shipped via Standard or Expedited International Shipping, are included in the Amazon Global Program and an import fees deposit is collected on them. For further details about this service, read about the Amazon Global Program.

* Note: Books that require special handling because they are extremely heavy (for example, multi-volume sets) cannot be shipped outside the U.S. If this is the case, it will be noted on the product detail page.

That priority shipping can be either UPS/FedEx/DHL , but it's always been DHL Express in my case.

So if you want to know "how" ? Just make an account on Amazon.com and buy something....

PS: I'm specifically talking Amazon.COM , there's also Amazon.CO.UK which -also- ships to South Africa but they are an entirely separate site with different shipping options and different rules regarding South Africa [don't confuse them] . The US site has impressed me the most with shipping.
