Courtesy of 2 public holidays, I took 3 days off work and we went on a short/quick trip to Lesotho 8-)

Itinerary was as follows: we went up Sani Pass, then through to Katse Dam, and finally a couple of nights at Semonkong:

Total distance covered: 3400 km
Avg speed: 106 km/h
Avg fuel consumption: 10.758 l/100km

The most amazing road we drove: from Roma to Semonkong. Elevation changed from 1663m to 2985m in 60km. Some of the sections required 2nd gear to get up and down.

Not a road for a Defender, more suited to a turbo sports car ;)

Very epic road trip..

Went up Sani Pass a few months ago, and I must say I was horribly disappointed, it was too easy...

Have you ever visited the AfriSki resort? Gf and myself are thinking of going this winter for a weekend or so.

Brilliant pics. Since the roads are been tarred, may even consider a drive with the polo.

You can definitely see lots of Lesotho in a platkar.

In fact, other than Sani Pass, and the gravel road between Mokhotlong & Thaba-Tseka, most other roads are tarred or platkar-friendly gravel.

For example, the road from Matatiele (EC) up to Qacha's Nek is now tarred, so you can get to Semonkong from there, and then onwards to Maseru and further up north.

That looks like a great trip. Thanks for sharing.

A normal car is perfectly capably of going up & down sani pass. We passed an old 80's merc midway going in the opposite direction...
