Spring is ok. By far the best time is now - May. Autumn in absolutely awesome, also in the Eastern Free State. The colours. Glorious.

There are plenty of those in Lesotho - road from Mokhotlong to Thaba-Tseka via St James Mission, Baboon's Pass, etc.

Awesome, did you experience any issues with boarder crossing and with your vehicle ? Been thinking of doing this soon. Any paperwork in particular required ? Besides the obvious passports ? Thanks

No, no issues at the border crossings whatsoever.

Going into Lesotho: they asked what kind of car we were driving and registration number and that was that. They didn't even ask to see the registration nor proof of insurance (which I had in any case).

Coming back into ZA: no questions asked, no searching of vehicle. This was at Van Rooyen's gate, things might be a bit more strict at the Maseru one.

The Lesotho regs state that you have to have 2 triangles, so just make sure you have 2 just in case.

I go into Lesotho often for work, never had issues at the Maseru or Ficksburg borders. They sometimes check your boot on the SA side but nothing more
