Shorter Contract Term??

In the beginning of the year there was talk of Virgin joining,MNP,and contract terms being shorter. By the looks of its all going to happen exept the contract terms being sorter? Does anybody know any news on that? I know in the U.K. you get 1 year contracts so you can upgrade your phone annualy.:)

I'm pretty sure VC offer 1 year contracts at the moment but I'm speaking under correction.
