Should 2G/3G be shut down?

Never realized soo many devices run on 2G/3G...

but in hindsight low powered devices would favor the use of 2G/3G over 4G/LTE

The government wants to shut down 2G and 3G in order to make spectrum available. Do you think it is a good idea?

Will this affect any legacy devices you might have?

In principal I think shutting down 2G/3G at some stage to make better use of spectrum makes sense. I don't believe the networks are ready for that yet. LTE coverage lags behind 3G. Personally I have to switch off LTE on my phone to get any usable Vodacom coverage at home, in Gauteng :-(. What happens in more rural parts of the country?

Whatever 2G signal you are getting will be replaced with 4G, I don’t think many people realise this
