Should fireworks be banned?

Ban fireworks that makes a noise.
I do love the visual side of it though, it's pretty cool, but that sound is messed up to our animals.

This is one of the reasons why I sold my house on the Flats and moved to my current area.

Those idiots go ballistic on Guy Fawkes. Throwing paint on people, burning tyres in the streets and then the fireworks. Tomorrow the streets will be a mess. Kids will be traumatised and everybody will be looking for their dogs.

This day should be outlawed and shops that sell fireworks should be shut down. Problem is half of the shops on the Flats are operating illegally to begin with so I'm not sure how the government will stop them from selling the stuff.

In general I'm not a huge fan of banning things - sure it's cool when it's something I don't like but what about when it's something I enjoy doing? We just went through a period when certain things were banned "for the greater good" and most weren't happy with it.

So I voted no, first reason is that principle I just mentioned, secondly it's something that happens so infrequently so as to make the whole thing pretty moot in any event. I reckon, like most of these things, a little consideration from all sides can go a long way.

When the inconsiderate start with their **** atomic bomb noises, get together in a posse and confront them.

Guy Fawkes. Seems to be one of those adopted/appropriated celebrations here in SA.

Funny how very, very, very colonial stuff is celebrated. But science is racist and needs to be decolonised.

If the government really wanted to get rid of fireworks going off in suburbs, then the best way would be to organise some proper fireworks shows around the country.
