I saw a 2003 Renault Scenic 1.6 with 118 000km on the clock advertised for R44 000 by a fellow country club member and got quite excited about buying it for my daughter who is going to varsity next year. It looks in excellent condition, hasn't had any major issues and the owner is a local.
I then phoned a mate, who knows cars, and he told me to stay away no matter what. Apparently when Renault's start giving hassles you then have big problems with getting parts, costs, etc. I must admit I thought it was a damn good buy, but maybe there is a reason for that.
What do you guys think?
