Hey all forum peeps!

I've always been quite a character. I'm a chilled guy but can get worked up very quickly and easily at times.
My work environment is stressful most of the time and there is constant stress.
Last year I started taking Biral. I did like it's calming affect and it seemed to lessen the stress.
But I think I still have some form of anxiety. I just feel I don't handle situations properly at times.
It's not that I'm anti-social or scared of people. I just feel 'worked up' most days.

When I look at everyone around me (call centre environment), most of them are pretty calm.
I think this world has crazy characters who make noise and tell people to get F'd when needs be.I'm one of those.
But I think it's actually starting to become a bit much. I enjoy the edge I have over people with it at times, but lately I've picked up how people tell me I'm always grumpy or moody bla bla bla.
I also seem to sweat tremendously and blush when an awkward moment happens. I have no control over these moments and it's damn annoying. It used to be worse in high school but I seemed to control it better when I grew older. These days it's more annoying because sometimes I don't even feel anxious or embarrassed, but my body just does it's own thing :wtf:

So yeah, I've been on biral (3 in the morning as I walk into work) for a few months.
It's helped, but I believe I need something stronger and something that will take the worked up edge away!

Can you guys please recommend what my options could be?
I'd love to try everything before going on to anti-depressants or mind menders.
I'm a bit worried that I'm eventually gonna have to try that route.

Any advice guys, I always appreciate your insight. Thank you.

I don't think of myself as an anxious person although I often feel nervous in some people's company.

Yet, people often randomly tell me to relax and stop stressing ... to which I usually respond that I do feel relaxed, but it still leaves me very confused most of the time.

Maybe I should start taking Biral.

How long have you been working in call centres?

They are extremely stressful and can take a major toll on your general well being.

I have been through a fair amount of anti anxiety drugs and the best choice to make is to go natural. Keeping in mind that anxiety attacks are highly psychological and therefore should only be treated medically when it's affecting your ability to function normally. In extreme cases I suggest Benzodiazepines, these assist with lowering brain activity thereby lessens your symptoms such as sweating as you mentioned. Keeping in mind that this is like a tranquiliser, as most are, and does result in numbness causing you to feel dreamy.

I suffer from extreme anxiety, anxiety attacks and insomnia and I have learnt that it's best to find healthy natural ways to help your body cope with the effects of anxiety, it is after all in your mind...I practice meditation and drink chamomile tea regularly.

It's easy to take a pill during an anxiety attacks or stressful situation, but at some point you have to deal with it on a psychological level and that can't be done medication.

OP, if it is getting to you, then don't wait too long. Consult a good doctor or psychiatrist to go through your options.

I've worked in call centre environments when the sh@t hits the fan, and it's never pretty. Even normal days can eel pretty darn stressful, and I felt that I wasn't coping.

With that in mind, I'd be VERY careful about relying on medicine, because it very easily becomes a crutch. Because I've been where you are and felt what you've felt, through high school, I can advise you this:

The job you are working is a stressful one. No ways around that. If you aren't coping with it, it's because it genuinely is too much for you, and that is normal, because people have different stress tolerances. I'd rather seek a different line of employment than starting medication. It should really be your last resort.

Hope that helps!

I am on Adco Alzam 0.5mg (Xanax) until I get anti-depressants on Wed. Pretty strong ****, makes you feel like on morphine. But consult a head doctor first. Them ppl know what to give you.

Your anxiety will most likely have triggers - things that set it off. The first step is to be conscious of these things so that you can develop strategies on how to cope when they occur. Secondly, learn how to differentiate between normal and abnormal levels of anxiety. A certain amount of anxiety is normal - learn how to tell the difference between the two.

Your job seems quiet stressful, and I'm sure that most people will feel the stress of that environment. Perhaps a career change will help you more than prescribed meds would. If it's not something you can change in the short term, work may seem easier knowing that where you're at right now is not forever. Learn from it whatever you can before moving forward.

Good luck.

Um...how would you take it without consulting a doctor?
The black market is pretty dodgy you know...

I'd suggest Therapy and Stress release techniques before moving onto medication.
Medication is no joke, know what you're getting yourself into...

Call centre environment would do my head in.

How are you over weekends? If you feel less anxious the problem might be work related.

Agreed, go pick up something natural but that really works, its called 5-HTP, get the Solal brand from Dischem

5-HTP? Ok, I will stop at Dischem tomorrow and definitely by some :) Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm chilled on weekends. It's definitely work related.
The thing is I need to study further if I must get out of that environment.
I'm working on some business plans & hope to be done with this shiiit in the next 1-2 years.

You sound similar to me. I'm outgoing and can be the center of attention in many cases.
Sometimes though I get nervous, blush and become flustered for nearly NO reason! It's like I don't actually feel bothered, but it shows annoyingly :(
Biral is great honestly. I can feel quite a bit of the edge relieved when I've taken them.
I started with 2 but now I'm popping 3 at a time. I just think I need something just a bit stronger
Give biral a shot though

Rescue remedy.

My mom swears by this stuff. I remember taking a huge dose for an interview once.
They did bugger all!

In a call centre for 5 years now but I'm not answering calls anymore.
I'm arranging to be moved soon to a quieter location though.

Thanks for the post :) You are right about the triggers.
This last week I realized one of the triggers is that the people around me 'enjoy' seeing me get worked up,flustered and swear violently at stuff. I'm a no nonsense type of guy, so when shiiit hits the fan...I'm always one to voice my opinion. So I think they are part of the trigger.
I'm hoping to get out of this environment. I swear to God I will pump petrol if I can't get out of it sooner than later :)

That sounds a bit heavy for me. I want a very low dose tranquilizer sort of...lol.
But yeah I'll need to schedule an appointment at some point.

Thanks! I think you are right. My stress tolerance is probably not solid enough.
I'm the hardest worker in that place but always end up staying late nights working.
Everyone else is so goddamn lazy and does not give their all. I give my all but still end up stressing the most :(
I will evaluate my environment in the next few weeks and possibly start thinking about a lifestyle change :O

Can you advise what the best natural or herbal remedies are that you've tried maybe?
Will Benzodiazepines require a script?

I've been prescribed Urbanol (10mg) after severe stress and anxiety attacks quite recently. They do indeed help. They do seem to numb me mentally. I don't think they are a long term solution.

They are schedule 5 medication, so you will need to be diagnosed or have them prescribed.

As I said I do meditation and lots of chamomile and green teas, also Valerian capsules, there are many herbal treatments available you can try, it is a lifestyle and not a fast fix... As for Benzodiazepines, there are quite a few different pills your specialist can prescribe according to the severity of your condition, I was on about 4 different kinds, xanax, klonopin and setax, what I do recall. However you should see a specialist.

Urbanol makes me angry. Ativan sublingual is very effective. As calm as Hindu cows

Stuff the bullies at work. Ignore them. If they see you're reacting they'll carry on. In the overall scheme of things they are nothing to you and you'll forget them when you've moved on. Try just looking doff when they tease you as if you don't understand. They're only doing it to be cruel and overcome their insecurities omething they should have grown out of at school.
