I'm 21 years old and have a history of high cholesterol in the family. I am not overweight and I'm quite active but I consume roughly 1kg of cheese a week (maybe even a bit more). How big an effect does cheese have on cholesterol and will this be detrimental to my health? From what age should I start worrying about cholesterol.
Except for the large amounts of cheese I generally eat healthy food and get regular exercise.

Its not always diet related. I say go get it tested. Its easy.

Im a classic colestrol case, yet of all the things wrong with me, that aint one of them.....

Yes definitely, my cholestrol is high and I only weigh about 65kgs and I am relatively tall...

Cholesterol testing is recommended as a screening test to be done on all adults at least once every five years.
It's normally done as part of your annual medical checkup, if you have one.
Your doctor will tell you if you need to be tested more frequently (if you have risk factors for heart disease).

They test you for cholesterol as one medical tests before you go on a mine.

A lady friend of mine was diagnosed with high cholesterol at 22 she lived a healthy life prior to that already. she to has it in her family history.....

Go get tested.

I love all manner of cheese/s too :)

As far as I'm aware most cheeses are low in fat compared to other dairy products but I could be wrong. I myself love cheese, it's the only dairy besides ice cream I have.

Depends on the cheese obviously, white cheese is good cheese and a discolored cheese is generally bad for you.

I would say eating 1kg of cheese a week seems excessive. Get tested. Then if all is good carry on. Here i thought my cheese habit was

If there's a genetic history of cholesterol in the family, play it safe and get tested every once in a while. It's better to know sooner rather than too late.
