Emigrating in a few months, so getting rid of all my stuff, only taking clothes.

I have this really awesome specked Netbook (12'):

I'm considering selling it, only because I won't have any warranty on it in Australia. It's about 4 months old. I really like the netbook, so really dont want to sell it, but I really cant take the chance of not having warranty right?

I can always sell it here and buy a another netbook in Australia with full warranty, which is a smart thing to do, right? Thing is, I had a look at netbooks last night on the net, and nothing beats my spec for an affordable price... I bought mine from Incredible Connection or R4000, it was on special, they go for R8000, even now they are still priced at R8000

Help...

I don't think you should sell it.

I think you should give it away.

To me.

How long is the remainder of the warranty? 8 months? 20 months?

I would only be tempted to sell if it still had 20 months left.

If it was to bust in Australia, the cost of repair would probably be a lot less than the loss you make selling it here in SA.

That link doesn's list all the specs. How much RAM is there? How much do you want to sell it for?

Haven't decided to sell it yet :) And if I do one of my colleagues wants to buy it :) But if I sell it will probably be for R4000.00, as I personally upgraded the hard drive to 320GB 7200RPM.

But nevertheless, here's the specs:

ďż˝ Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo T5750 Processor
ďż˝ 2.00 GHz
ďż˝ 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB Cache
ďż˝ 2GB Memory
ďż˝ 320 7200RPM GB Hard Drive
ďż˝ 12.1" Brightview Display
ďż˝ Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate
ďż˝ Wifi Enabled
ďż˝ INTEL 965 GM Graphics Card Type
ďż˝ Built in Camera
ďż˝ External Slim ODD Optical DVD Drive

I would keep it, those things typically don't just fail, and if the HD or RAM fails, then it's easy/cheap to fix.

The loss on selling / repurchasing isn't worth it.

But it's not a done deal, he is an Indian and very picky so he will probably not buy it, lol... but I first need to come to some sort of conclusion...

Guys, please don't tell me to sell it for your own benefit okay, :D

So this is more of a 12" Notebook, than a Netbook?

According to what I found on the internet, 12" is the borderline for netbooks.

So it's really a Netbook/Notebook. They say anything above 12" is Notebook, less 12" is netbook :)

I would sell it because hardware is cheaper over there so you'll buy something with better specs and it won't cost proportionately as much of your income. Don't worry about it.

but from my understanding, the netbook is built on the atom architecture, ie fixed cpu. This unit has an LGA775 board and CPU, making it, in my mind anyway, a notebook.

Well, you are right in saying that hardware is cheaper in Australia, but finding something with this spec for what I'm selling, not at all. Already did my research :)
