Howzit okes,

I was looking at upgrading my GFX card to a 4890, but thinking that the 5 series was just launched by ATI i think getting an older tech card wont be worth it right now, especially for R2000,

I've currently got a 8800GTS 320mb. You rate it will be worth it if i can get another one for cheap (+-R500) and SLI it. Then upgrade later when the 58% get a little cheaper.

Will it make a big difference? Never looked into or tried the SLI thing before.

Thanks

just make do with your one 8800gts for now. By April next your, the 5850 will be around the R2500 mark.

you rate?

Surely i would have a noticable gain in performance with another one.

Would a single 4850 beat a 8800gts in SLI?

Don't waste your money, just wait for a 58xx card.

Anyways, can your PSU support 2x GPUs at the moment?

You will have a noticeable increase in performance! If you can find one for R500 I guess it's not a bad idea. But I reckon a 4850 will be equal to or even faster than 8800GTS SLI ya. SLI uses a lot of power too.

Getting a 4850 will also leave more cash in your wallet as compared to if you went SLi. The 8800s will also rely on SLi in order to perform well, while with a 4850 you won't have to worry about that.

4850 get's my vote

I was also considering Sli my 8800GT 512 and it just aint worth, instead I am getting a 5850.

alright, i guess ill just stick it out till next year. oh wells. thanks for the info :)

im also holding onto my 8800gts 320mb for a bit till prices start to lower.. Touch wood.
