what I cant figure out is what are the board thinking...

Well none of them are really football guys, all businessmen. Great at marketing, useless at making football decisions.

Purportedly the Glazers have commercial interests at heart rather than footballing ones.
There is a point where the 2 interests actually meet. Man Utd will not be able to easily maintain their huge support base if they don't win tournaments.

Exactly. Not being in the CL makes a huge dent in profits, sponsorships and the like.

It all seems very logical to us and should be even more obvious to the guys on top who deal with the finances and footballing decisions. I can only fathom that because we on the stock market, we cant make any rash moves due to stock price and we cant announce the appointment of Mou early as its considered insider trading...just a whimsical theory as I dont get the situation otherwise

Apparently it's a lot cheaper for MUFC to sack LVG once UEFA CL is not happening for us next season...

after losing half a billion I don't think it's cheaper to fire him after failing to qualify... that'll just wipe another 1/2 a billion off the share price... I wonder if this is LVG's grand master plan to get Glazers out by losing the value and worth of United - to the point where the fans would be able to buy back United for fire sale price hmmmm

Nope, it definitely is cheaper. By around £6-8M.

you not understanding - with each loss the share price falls... that's money out the window so 6-8m to get rid of LVG is cheaper than 500m stock prices lost

What if you get 4th place and win the FA cup? Surely that is a decent enough conclusion to the season, especially one that has been so unpredictable.

The league has been terrible this season. The points are much lower than usual

Its not just the silverware, but the manner in which we play the game. Its laboured and inconsistent, boring infact. He has also spent alot with no real return.
