I like the hammy as well. I was itching to grab that exact same khaki this past weekend, but decided against it as I have a Seiko field watch that looks almost exactly like it. I see you like the Seiko’s too
At the time I had a good look at the field seikos, the field hammy (non auto) and the Bulova hack, but I have a few other seikos (really love Seiko) and the Bulova water resistance put me off. (Not really a factor in hindsight).

The Seiko field watches are amazing value for money, but the current prices are too high imo.

The hammy is a beautiful piece and I'm very happy with it, it replaced the Kamasu as the daily driver. I'm wanting to add a Seiko presage cocktail to my collection, they are beautiful but I know I don't know if I'd wear it over the hammy.

That depends in how much of a hurry you are. I have 3 generations of Field watches, the Gen1 cost me like $90 a few weeks back, Gen 2 I got for around $130 and the Gen3 in the pic I got for $190. Shipping them individually is what kills the landed cost, but it still beats buying them locally.

Obligatory pic of the Gen 3 Field. Functionally it's nicer than the Gen 1 and 2 as it supports hacking and manual winding. See what I mean about resemblance to your hammy?

The full auto hammy's are just too rich for my blood to be honest. Still doesn't change the fact I want one still. I'll keep it on my radar...

Lovely, I'm sure you have much better lume, the lume on the hammy sucks tbh. Didn't know gen 3 had manual wind, hacking is also a great added extra.

I love field watches and those seikos are solid. You've got the NATO in my preferred setup too. Price wise I picked up the hammy overseas on special for around 6-7k which was a great deal.

Yeah, the Gen 3 uses the 4R36 movement, the older ones used the 7S36 movements that didn't have manual wind and hacking.

R7k for that hammy? Wow!!! Cheapest I can see them now is around $500'ish and $700 for the automatics

It was a great deal, think it was around €400+- at the time on Amazon. I was watching the price for a while though.

Edit, it is the 38mm one, which might also be a factor.

Almost forgot about this thead...

One of my new watches added to my collection since my last contribution to the thread:

Vostok Komandirskie - Russian divers watch
Imported from Russia. Love these Vostok watches. Planning to buy some more.
Automatic movement, stainless steel, sapphire glass, 200m water resistant (and capable of much much more) and a unique quirky styling in a Russian way.

I love the Vostoks, they are very well made as quirky as you mentioned. Lovely pieces, would love an Amphibia.

How did you get them in? I've been curious about getting an Amphibian as well; I've seen a few on Amazon but shipping works out more than the watch. Seems kinda silly because it looks like a Russian seller on Amazon

While the watch is impressive. i am more impressed that you got a hairy gorilla to wear it, in the pool no less.

More body hair in this photo than on my entire body....

Bought from Komandirskie.com.
Rubles to ZAR worked out cheaper than paying USD elsewhere.
And yes the DHL import cost was almost the same as the watch. :(

My next Vostok will be the Amphibia 170805. https://komandirskie.com/catalog/amfibiya/amfibiya_klassika/170k/chasy_amfibiya_170805/
There's something about that watch that I love.
Just need to find a cheaper way to import...
Why not do a group buy? I’d be in for one or two.

I want one of these; put an olive drab nato strap on and you have an awesome field watch

I just love all the Cyrillic on the watch dial, while the hour markers are clear and legible.
