I'm pretty sure you'll find a ready market for your rebuilds - more so considering the personal touch that buyers would enjoy. The challenge I suspect will be that anyone shelling out a few thou will likely require some form of warranty, so you'd have to take into consideration the costs that you might incur in that process.Yup, I’ve bought from them as well. Thing is they only have 009’s in stock (at $450 before shipping) and for some reason, the 007’s are more popular. If you can find a 007 new, you’re gonna pay at least $600 up for it. Yes, it boggles the mind.
I was just trying to figure out if there’s local demand for it for a little more sane pricing.
Hmmm, the expectation of a warranty is fair so that wouldn’t be an issue. What I won’t be able to offer is any form of water resistance guarantee. Thing is, some watches might be in great condition case wise, others might have had water do damage to mating surfaces of gaskets. Once pitting has started, getting them waterproof again is impossible. But this is details that can be worked out.I'm pretty sure you'll find a ready market for your rebuilds - more so considering the personal touch that buyers would enjoy. Let me think of something that‘s practical then. Maybe start a little WhatsApp group for nerds and interested parties, with progress updates on builds and trade. I’m up for suggestions of courseLet us liberate your wrist sleepers. The dust busters... I'm in for something special...
I think if you can overcome the water resistance issue, and cater for a select group of people who are aware of the possible limitations (eg by WhatsApp group) then you'll have a winner. There is a huge resurgence of interest in mechanical watches and there will be many who prefer a well presented piece with a bit of history and a personal touch to a nondescript factory job.Let me think of something that‘s practical then. Yeah, I agree with this. Always nice to have something with history and a personal touch.I think if you can overcome the water resistance issue, and cater for a select group of people who are aware of the possible limitations (eg by WhatsApp group) then you'll have a winner. Hmmm, thing is to overcome the water resistance issue is going to be a show stopper. Pretty much none of the vintage watches sold have any kind of water resistance guarantee - for the reasons I explained above. Once the gasket mating surfaces have been pitted by rust there's simply no way to fix that. Obviously I change gaskets as a matter of course but that'll only prevent future dust ingress.I think if you can overcome the water resistance issue, and cater for a select group of people who are aware of the possible limitations (eg by WhatsApp group) then you'll have a winner. If you are looking for a bespoke leather strap, also check out these guys.
Very annoying to have such a big watch that is often not with you and that creates constant distractions. Also no style at all.
That's horrible. Are you okay?Very annoying to have such a big watch that is often not with you and that creates constant distractions. Also no style at all.
He's right though. If I'm in a meeting and someone checks their phone all the time to see the time, it's poor form. A quick glance at a wristwatch is the way. That's horrible. Are you okay?
