Showmax and other, casting???

I hope someone can help as I am really dim when it comes to tech, but I want to cast showmax and catch-up to my samsung TV using something like chromecast.
My questions are as follows:

1) what would be the best wifi to connect my samsung tablet to chromecast, keeping in mind I don't want to stream?
2) Is chromecast the best option?
3) If I have downloaded a video to my tablet and I cast it to my tv via Wifi does it use data, there is no point doing it if I am doubling up on data costs?
4) Keep in mind that my network is too slow and patchy to stream live.

How do you understand the word DIM, that's why I asked the question I wanted to know if I understood WIFi Correctly. It's the only way we learn.

There will be no 'data usage' if you're streaming over the same network. Think of it as you running a cable to your TV from your device, except you're doing it wirelessly over your network.

As i've read here - chromecast is the answer. If you stream via you wi-fi it will use data, but if you allready have it downloaded and then just cast it to your TV via wi-fi - it won't use data. Will be like a bluetooth connection.

Any techy aprove of my answer ? (I'm also DIM with these things)

If it's a smart TV won't it connect wirelessly to his device with Miracast or some such app?

Simplest is to copy file movie onto a USB stick and plugging it into your TV.

So the answer so far is definetly:
1) chromecast
2) with Wifi - but which one there are so many on the market it makes my head spin
