South African streaming battle — Showmax vs eVOD vs SABC+

South Africans have a plethora of home-grown video streaming services to choose from, and three major ones carry most of the content that enjoys some widespread appeal.

These streaming services are eVOD, SABC+, and Showmax, each owned by one of the country's leading television broadcasters.

Who woulda thought that half a million people would pay 29 bucks a month to watch repeats of Anaconda.

eVOD and SABC+ should support more platforms (e.g. Samsung TVs and media boxes) if this is a serious attempt to set up a streaming service.

People stream evod and SABC?
Even If they paid me R99 a month I would decline, politely.

Seems like Hisense might be 'sponsoring' some of their costs or maybe even paying to be exclusive.
