ShowMax is streaming in Full HD on the DStv Explora

I have no experience with the device in question, but surely the Internet side of it should just work without having active DSTV?

A question for those who stream via the decoder.

I have a 10mb fibre connection and can download at about full speed. However I struggle to view a HD version of a 42min series it does not buffer that well.....do others find this issue?

No it doesn't, Naspers own Showmax and Multichoice, DSTV is a subsidary of Multichoice. They have the same holding company they aren't the same company.

I don't get the value proposition of ShowMax. For R20 less than Netflix, I get 720p videos, no 5.1, no subtitles, and a smaller selection. In exchange for local content.

This, been watching some HBO shows, though some of them are a season or two behind . Also I know season 5 and 6 of Community aren't the best, but it would be nice to have them so I can finish.
