Showmax slow / timing out

You pay for cra@ thats what you get. try kodi its free

I got the same issue, youtube fine , showmax buffering like crazy without ANY ability to "pre-buffer" . I'm not sure if it's my browser or what, but even youtube you can "pause" and have it download a few minutes ahead so you can watch without interruption, i can't seem to do this with showmax.

So i gave up, every second time i had to deal with this nonsense, and i cancelled. Decided to jump through all the hoops to get onto Netflix...and holy smokes batman , not only does Netflix know exactly what i watched last, it knows where exactly i was IN the movie/episode across all my freaking devices... And i can properly pre-buffer too, not that i seem to need to.

I had Netflix years ago, but back then it was like Showmax is now. If Netflix were to launch in SA right now, it would sink all the competition.

Also, Xbox 360/Xbox One Netflix apps...magic . I had to jump through a few hoops to get it going on my Xbox 360 (had to make a US account and log in with it) , but Xbox One had no issues (only had to change region on the console) .

Sorry to say, Showmax is not there yet... and i'm not even talking about the content here.

I'm watching fine at the moment. Haven't had any issues with showmax on my 4meg line. Watch what I can on there and use kodi for other things.

Same here. I watched season 1 of Gravity Falls over the weekend and 2 movies last night.

Any else with issues? Normal internet seems fine

Are you using Google Chrome to watch? If not just try it to compare.
Showmax requires widevine by google and adobe flashplayer which is both natively present in chrome.

Why would you use ShowMax?

Apparently there is a performance issue relating to specific DNS servers that you may be using. If you're using a DNS service such as UnoTelly, it's known to cause a problem with ShowMax. Setting your DNS settings to default/local servers apparently fixes this problem. Although, I've never used ShowMax, and don't intend on using it either, so I can't confirm if this change actually works.

I have no buffering issues on Shomax with my 4 MB line, have been using it on my MWeb and Afrihost accounts, mostly watch on my iPad. From time to time it does however fail to load a next episode automatically and it seams the only way is to quit the app and start all over again, but I doubt this have anything to do with the stream its self, I think it's rather a issue with the app.
I'm happy with Showmax so far, will probably also get Netflix at some point.
