ShowMax tested

Right so I have now tested ShowMax on my smarttv, tablet and s5 galaxy, all do the same, video is out of sync with audio. I am using their last episode of suites s4e16 (which is also old as hell already?). Anyway, tried on different internet connections too with same results, so its not my side. Meh.

Just tested it now. Suits episode as per your post is slightly out of sync. No buffering though.

ISP: Bitco

Either way, Netflix = zero sync problem. I'm a perfectionist, I will go crazy trying to watch out of sync movies / series that are 2 months behind and that I'm actually paying for. Just not for me. Netflix is admittedly also far behind, but no sync issues and 1080p.

They couldn't raise the volume for the adverts by 120%, there aren't any, so they did this instead. :p

You are right. The sound is out of sync. Yesterday when I tested it with a kid show (teletubbies), I couldn't notice it.

I have just sent them an email, detailing the problem and explained that it's not just me, many on this forum confirming the same. So lets see what they say..

Not really interested. Will not forgive, will not forget

Just tested. Line speed - 3Mbps Afrihost - Android app. I'm disappointed as the video quality is ***. I compered it with an HD YouTube video I set to 720p to stream. YouTube quality is great in comparison to Showmax. I was going to get it, no longer though.

I was really excited about all the HBO shows and will definitely keep my subscription if they sort out the quality issues. Sadly, the video is so bad, I literally find it difficult to make out what I'm looking at. In contrast, I get crisp, often 720p video on other streaming services.

I really want ShowMax to succeed, because it attempts to address a very real gap in the market. So I'll subscribe for 6 months and hope for the best that what I'm seeing are teething problems. If it's still this bad after then, I'm dropping it.

@Jan

Please do a follow up article by taking up the voice sync issue with them and giving us feedback as to when it will be fixed as well as the quality issues. I signed up for 7 days but no way I will renew it unless that is addressed before the 7 free days are up.

I've been quite impressed. Video quality is good and so far I have not had any buffering. (4mbps line)

As for the audio sync, I just adjusted my Samsung TV audio delay. Seems to sort it out.

I tested the free option and the quality isnt great. Amped to try Pro
