Hey all,

I am averaging about 14GB per day since we've gone to VOD. Were using showmax now and I've got it set to ' low' data usage - the Showmax app says up to 300MB per hour...but were doing on average 14GB n day now.

Is Netflix any better?

What times in the weekday are you watching? I'll compare it to mine and post

From 11am-10pm we use 10-12gb

What does it matter if you have uncapped?

Yeah that seems about right then. Who is your ISP if I may ask?

wow thats some serious TV watching. we normally do about 6-8GB on a weekend, weekday is much lower. and thats netflix on 720p. i dont have showmax.

what line speed do you have?

Uncapped sucks. Large capped accounts have become cheaper in recent years, and offer an unshaped connection.

My household does 450-600GB a month without any issue on a capped account. R399 for 200GB and R99 to double it to 400GB with Afrihost Plus. Uncapped midnight data and one month rollover means we don't even watch our usage. 150GB rolled over from last month.

Got a 4Mbps capped with Afrihost. Even if we've got it playing for 8 hours a day that should only be at 2.4GB not 14GB. I recon something is very wrong here and its def not running at 'up to 300MB/hour'

And yes, uncapped is rubbish.

Never ran into any issues on our 10Mbps Telkom uncapped. Have a garden cottage and I know the tenants are on Netflix most of the time as well. SO runs Netflix on HD every evening we don't have friends or go out.

Then again, a friendly guy in Telkom "fine-tuned" our line after I had ICASA on their case...

That's not a measure of value. It's how much data you use vs how much you pay.

If you're buying 200GB and spending the extra R100 to double it to 400GB how are you able to do 450-600GB? Where's the extra coming from and at what cost?

My monthly usage is also over 450gb and I've got little to complain about on my TI uncapped line, especially since I get the 25% discount.

Midnight data. We schedule large downloads for 11.30pm to 7.30am.

Ok - makes sense now.

I'll reevaluate if I lose the discount but for now it's cheaper and does the job.

Hey - you guys are losing focus on the REAL issue at hand - MY VOD problem :)

So I spoke to the fam last night...apparently that TV plays the whole day...so we a e streaming 12 hours a day. According to the Showmax app...at 300Mb / hour I should still only be doing 3.6GB and not 14GB? I've sent the Showmax support guys an email and await their feedback now.
