I am averaging about 14GB per day since we've gone to VOD. Were using showmax now and I've got it set to ' low' data usage - the Showmax app says up to 300MB per hour...

you're watching for 46 hours per day?

That's my point...were watching (well at times the fam just leave it playing) 12 hours a day max...and its set to low or 'up to 300MB per hour' but were using avg. 14GB a day! So what I am saying is, the capping feature does not work and Showmax is bandwidth intensive.

I recently had to renege on my agreement to buy Netflix and Showmax due to having failed to factor in the cost of bandwidth.

It was a bit of a PR disaster back at home because the three females in the house had all slipped into a VOD comfort zone and blowing through our monthly cap in 12 days meant that I had to remove apps from devices and make various vague threats around future internet access... almost led to insurgency with the MLP/Peppa Pig fan set leading the charge.

I seriously doubt, given Showmax's max quality, that it can chow though 14GB a day even on 100Mb FTTH. Netflix on the other hand will.

My data usage chart clearly shows that the day after we got Showmax, is when the usage spiked to those numbers. I am 100% sure there is nothing else chowing the data. Apparently they have introduced new capping features in the last few days which I'll try out. PS I am using Showmax on our smart TV not.
