ShowMax

so how is Showmax for those using it? honestly i might just switch because im not going to pay R175 a month for Netflix, or depending on what exchange rates Zuma decides to mess with

There's no comparison between Showmax and Netflix. Showmax doesn't even come close to Netflix quality. I'd pay that for Netflix anyday, R99 is too expensive for Showmax.

If your two reasons for buying it was a bigger screen and Showmax you didn't do your research.

Does the TV have Android?

Was waiting for this clever remark hahaha
No it has some clown thing called VIDAA 2.0
Showmax is overrated anyway. Would just be nice to have it available and see what its like but if showmax makes it so difficult to access its services it can keep it.
The television itself is not bad.
Showmax should take more care to make its services easier to access.

This is directly from the Showmax site:

Hisense Vidaa 2.0 Smart TV (2016 and later, South Africa only)

Saw that but its not true, the showmax app is not on the tv and not available for download. Theres also no firmware update available.
Even talked to showmax on facebook, gave them my model number. My tv is not supported according to them :|

A smart tv is a dumb tv
Get yourself that LIT box or a MXQ or something.

Ok, so I looked at a product video of N3000 TV, and it runs the older Vidaa platform and not the new "Vidaa U" so that's why your TV doesn't support Showmax.

Unfortunately any TV that uses the Opera TV platform is very limited in useful apps.

I also see from the other thread that you only have the TV for 2 weeks, I think it's possible that you will be able to exchange the TV for something smarter

Hi

Thank you for the info. The television is OK. Showmax is not a dealbreaker. Just thought with smart tv's so long on the market it would not be a problem.
I guess the saying you get what you pay for applies.
Dont be stingy, open the wallet wide and you will be rewarded.

As mentioned above maybe get a Telkom Lit box just in case you want more apps.

Im not sure what the Telkom LIT Box involves, if its another contract or a once off purchase.
If I do get it, it has to work with a sim card or from my cellulour hotspot, there is no fibre or land line here.
Yeah i know hard to believe in this day and age :|

Here's the thread https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=916323

Yes you can get it cash

Only the official Netflix doesn't work but your TV already has it

Don't you have one of those SIM routers from Vodacom or MTN ?

My friend recently bought a SmartTV, and also cannot find ShowMax for download in the app store.

Reading a few posts up, it seems that this is an issue with SmartTV's and a media player is recommended?

Thank you very much for the information much appreciated.
I have a CellC base thing where the stick fits into standing upright / vertical.
The base then distributes wi-fi to other devices.

I read the thread about the Telkom Lit box, it looks a bit buggy
You have a few other choices:

1. Import a Xiaomi Mi Box or buy it locally (Costs slightly more than Importing).

2. Get an Android based box.

Thanks, i saw android boxes, might considder one.
Not too keen on Telkom tech. We have a Telkom router in the office and its junk.

When I upgrade my TV in 5 or 6 years, at that time I will make sure I open the wallet wide and receive all the benefits / rewards :)
