ShowMax

Nope, I don't use unotelly. Would I need it for ShowMax?

No. Just with Unotelly enabled some people found that Showmax streams came from Germany which affected the quality of the stream.

Decided to test ShowMax, quality is fine (so far).

I have 20Mbps Afrihost VDSL, on Afrigreen at the moment.

Unotelly is running, does not seem to have a negative impact.

Nice to have some HBO content, may be worth it just for that.

Tried is yesterday, worked great no quality issues on my 55" Sammy.
On LTE, now how would one maximise the use of off peak data and view later (the next day offline)?

I did not notice it (watched indicator) at all, was actually looking for it.

Actually in Showmax if you click on your login icon it brings up a watched list of sorts.

Last had had a few buffering issues, while YouTube was maxing line. Is this type of thing common? First I've had this.

Tried the 7 day trial a few weeks back. Was interested in getting it as it claimed, among other shows, to have CSI Las Vegas; which we are currently watching. However, it isn't until after you've registered that you can see exactly what episodes of shows they have and I was dismayed to see it only had two seasons of it, 12 & 13 if memory serves. Those aren't the last seasons, just somewhere in the middle which doesn't make sense to me. I won't start watching a new show half way through...

Tried a few of the free shows just to check stream quality. Not brilliant, and no where near as good as Netflix on my 4MB Afrigreen line.

Ok, my biggest problem with Showmax thus far, is the fact that it doesn't seem to show which episodes / movies you've already watched. I'm used to using Kodi, which tracks these things for me, how am I supposed to remember this stuff? Surely it isn't *that* difficult to implement?

**EDIT**
P.S. I'm on Afrihost, and it's streaming beautifully.

exercise your mind

Been 'binge' watching Vikings, season 1 and 2 without any issues.

If the content interests me on Showmax, I will stick around for a while.

Having ZERO technical knowledge I registered and watched a movie on my Mac laptop.
Showed perfectly. Telkom line which Speedtest says is 1.6???
Where on the West do I buy a cable and adaptor to playback via my tv?
Plays great on my S3 phone too.

Showmax have an app for Samsung and LG Smart TV's and that is how mine work. As far as I know no app yet for Apple TV or any other media players.

So the only option for now is to buy this small pc, it has a quad core atom cpu, 32gig space, and you can add micro SD, it run full windows 10, I also use this keyboard. Takelot has a better one that i want to buy. Then you view Showmax on your TV. Look lik big flash drive, but the connector is HDMI not usb, plugging in directly behind tv..

Kids tell me I need only a HDMI MxM cable with an adaptor to my Thunderbolt connection on the Mac. Strict instructions not to complicate things. Plug and play they say .
Watched half an episode of Walker now on my phone . No buffering. Perfect pic and sound.
I'm sispicous....:D

Your kids are correct in saying that! KISS - keep it super simple!

I like a neat setup, and I'll go out and buy new TV to only have a single device, the cheapest option would be to connect notebook to TV with HDMI cable! only bad part is having notebook open and on close to the TV.

This small pc replaced the notebook for me. I bought it to make a non-smart tv a smart one, (work purposes)
