I'm quite new to photography but I might soon have the opportunity to get the Sigma 8-16mm Lens (or any other lens) from someone who will be going abroad, so I might save a bit.

I've seen sample pictures and reviews and have generally been very impressed with the lens. The only thing which worries me is the lack of filters. Will I really miss these?

I'm going to use this lens on a Nikon DX camera so Nikon's 10-24mm is also an option but I'm leaning more towards the Sigma because of the price and extra 2mm.

Like I said, I'm very new to photography and would normally not spend so much money on a lens just yet but the opportunity to get one is there.

I would like to hear your thoughts and advice please :)

I own the Sigma 8-16mm, so lots of sample pics here.

Really love the lens and it is perfect for what I do. The only filter that I wish I could put on it, is a Big Stopper... Besides that, I don't care about the filters.

Great photos! It actually was your flickr that 'introduced' me to this lens in the first place :)
