In December we went away for a week. Stayed near Haenertsburg in the Limpopo province. Had very little Vodacom signal strength to speak of, could only get one bar in some places, but I noticed MTN was at full strength.

I was away again this weekend... on a family camp near the Hartebeespoort Dam. Same thing. Very low signal strength, unable to use the 3G card... could only get 2G at 53 kbps. But once again I notice that MTN had full signal strength.

The only places I have been on holiday where I have had good signal strength from Vodacom have been Umhlanga (Umhloti) and Warmbaths.

Has anyone else noticed that MTN seem to have the edge in station coverage in the more remote locations? What other locations have you been to where there has been very little Vodacom coverage?

In a school Hall! LOL and it's not even in a rural area:eek:

MTN, was going at hyper speeds, HSDPA and Everything!

There's a remote diving spot we go to in Mpumulanga. No Vodacom signal, but MTN works fine. That is, if you stand on top of a certain large rock while making a call. :D Looks quite funny when someone is perched on top of this big boulder, having a conversation on their phone!

Phoning: A Dangerous Business

That reminds me of the movie "RV" :D

I know what you mean... at this place in Haenertsburg... there was one tree in the driveway which if you stood behind it you could get one bar. It was pretty embarrassing to see all of the vodacom users going outside in the rain to stand next to the tree in the driveway to make a call... all of the MTN users were sitting snugly in the lounge of the hotel making and receiving calls on their phones. :(
