Hi,

Can anyone suggest a very silent 80mm fan? I have a Coolermaster Aquagate water cooling system with a 80mm intake fan, and it is a bit noisy. The fan is on its low speed setting, but you can hear/feel that the bearings aren't smooth.

I see Nexus fans are highly regarded, but not locally available :(

Cheers
Greg

I tried the Vantec a few years ago and wasn't impressed at all by the noise level. The fan also failed within a few months. Yate Loon and Nexus were considered to be the best bet

Hmmm... I think I'll buy a Sunon fan - available from my electronics supplier - seems very high quality and pretty quiet. I'd love to mode the setup to use a 120mm fan, but the airflow wouldn't be focussed on the radiator.

You could use a 120mm-80mm adapter (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2230), which has 2 benefits: the 120mm fan is way quieter and the airflow will be stronger when pushed through a narrower opening

I'll check out the adapter, but I'm not sure if it will fit - the water cooling system fits in a double 5.25" bay housing, with an opening for a 80mm fan. I'd like to mod my case as well to change the 80mm intake to a 120mm :) Not too simple on a Centurion 5 though.
