Here's a dumb question, but here goes anyway:

If a light bulb (globe) is finished, but the switch stays on, does it use any electricity?

Reckon it depends on the globe.
The old incandescent globes I would think not -the "circuit" is broken.
Not sure about those new low energy ones - I have no idea what a broken one looks like

lol - exactly.
Well, tbh, I did have one die eventually.
But it was one of those with a light sensor built it - maybe the sensor broke, and not the light.

If a light bulb (globe) is finished, but the switch stays on, does it use any electricity?

If it has a transformer and the primary winding is still ok then it will still draw current even if the secondary is open circuit.
