Speakers are good, but that will definitely exceed his budget by quite a bit.@op an alternative is one of th Onkyo HTiB systems that have a more "pro" receiver, not sure of the speaker quality though.

Dion Wired recently had a great deal on a Marantz NR1402 + Jamo S416HCS + Jamo Sub200 for R6999. I'm not sure if they're still running it, but check if that's still available firstProbably, think it retails for around 6k. I've added it to the Christmas list![]()
Hi Guys,
Please share your opinion on the Home Theatre combo that Dion Wired is selling: Jamo S416HCS+Sub200 and Marantz NR1402 @ R6999
These items individually total over R12000, so I think at this price it's a steal. Is this good bang for buck at this price range?
On 2x speakers you'll get Dolby Pro Logic surround. I'm currently using red/white to my amp with Dolby Pro-Logic 2 - sounds great. You still have 4x distinct directions.
It's pretty distinct.Probably much better than standard stereo but I think it's "synthesized surround sound" so not quite the same as hearing it in "true" surround where the audio is recorded and played back on specific channels.
I've read the Wikipedia. Could you elaborate?

I don't profess to be an expert on the topic so I'll leave it to those here that clearly are.
No but thanks.
So is virtual surround from two channels better than surround from five channels?
Nah, DPL's simulated 5.1 wont match the accuracy of real DD5.1 recorded in 5 ch. Still DLP & DPLII (more adv processing routines) do a pretty decent job of creating surround/directional sound from a 2ch source. So is virtual surround from two channels better than surround from five channels?
Came across to me as simulated/matrixed surround being punted as a better choice than 5.1.
