Have any1 bought some yet?

I see the only place you can buy it now is SAmint - online.

I don't see it on Scoin yet.

If its from SA mint it will be legit. The only problem you might have is with selling them again

The price of silver KRs is in the region of R800. This is about 3 times the bullion price of silver. Compared with gold KRs, this appears to be excessively expensive

A 100gm silver bar is R1150.

Jirre. That's insane.

Plus with all the deposit box robberies I'm not sure where one would store it anyway. Bury it in backyard?

Ripoff you can get an American Silver Eagle for around R300 http://silver-sphere.co.za/product-category/silver-bullion-coins/
Thank you for this - they will also soon sell Canadian Maple Platinum coins - I wonder is the omission of a certificate of authenticity important?

I am also concerned about using a courier service to deliver investment coins - surely that is a definitive way to advertise that a specific address may contain something to steal?

I'm not sure about physical platinum bullion. The only platinum I have is in ETF form. Silver bullion coins you almost always don't get a certificate of authenticity. It's important to know how to spot fakes, lot's of videos on YouTube on how to do this.

I feel the same about the courier service. I usually get stuff delivered to my work rather than home. The courier they use is Courier Guy, they are very good and in my experience trust worthy but always good to play it safe.

Guys, guys, do not waste your money on the new Silver Krugerrands. These coins are over-priced. The SA Mint released two versions:

1. The Premium Uncirculated, which they sell at R600
2. The Proof Coin, which they sold at R770.

Already, the price of the SAMint is way above the actual value of the Silver. The reason is that they market this coin as a Numismatic collectible.

Making things worse, the market is driving these prices artificially even much higher.

So, if you buy this, you are doing this just to own the coin. It is not an investment as you are likely not to recover your initial investment.

Be warned!

And, just a last word... wait a year or two. Let those who do not know what to do with their money buy these coins at extremely high prices. They will circulate again in the market, but then you will get them at more reasonable silver value.
