Developers, I would like your input please:

I'm going to create a CMS for the existing portal here. I'm considering Drupal off the bat (Drupal+CCK=ftw!), but a few other, perhaps simpler CMS platforms have crossed my desk, and I'd like to know if anyone has heard of, or even worked with these. I'll list them below, and I'd appreciate any feedback (e.g. Not a Portal CMS, or difficult to modify, etc.).

[Disclaimer]I will be doing my own research - this is purely to pick the brains of those already in the know.[/Disclaimer]

I'm hardcore into Wordpress at the moment and the possibilities and potential is almost endless. Using Wordpress, doesn't mean that you site HAS to be a blog. I've created full on websites on Wordpress.

Anyway, I've briefly visited Silverstripe.org before and I must admit, it's worth giving a try. It does look a bit limited though. Personally, I'm going to give wolf CMS a go for my next project.

If you'll be just a tad patient then I'll let you know how it goes haha!

Thx. I've heard of creating portals using WordPress, but I prefer using the right tool for the job, as opposed to making one tool do something else... and I'm looking for something that allows me to create a back-end that makes it simple to update the site (no HTML required).

EDIT: Looks like SilverStripe might fit the bill - gonna download and give it a try.

Drupal is still the best CMS by far. The options available for Drupal far outway the possibilities that Wordpress can spit out. I like wordpress but love Drupal. I would recommend you go with Drupal.

I've used Joomla, Typo3, Wordpress and Drupal, the latter being my favourite, especially sub-theming using Zen. Currently looking at ModX.

Mine eyes! They BURN!!!
Yeah - did I mention that's not my design? ;)

Seriously though, both Wolf CMS and SilverStripe seem to be popular, but I agree that Wolf CMS seems more adept at "portalizing" sites...
Too little, too late. I'm very impressed with SilverStripe, and installed it at home last night (via the Web PI nogal), and I've already found the modules that I'll be using or tinkering with. I particularly enjoy the OO database creation and updates. Stunning work, all under a BSD licence. Thankyouverymuch.

I just tried to have a look at SilverStripe's forum module, but get a server error.

I'm still looking for a CMS with good "native" forum integration, rather than having to bridge to smf/phpBB.
