SIM card at Oliver Thambo

Hi Everyone

Can I buy a SIM card at Oliver Thambo airport for Vodacom? I think a starter pack will work, but will the starter pack have a 64K or 128K SIM card? Or is there a better place to buy the card at a good price. I have a SIM cutter to make a regular size into a nano size, but nano will be nice too.

Please point me in the right direction or website. I have searched but cannot find a answer from my friend Google.

Cheers

You can but if it costs more than R10, don't. Unless you urgently need it.

I can't remember if there's a CNA at OR Tambo but if there is, try them rather.

Hi

I forgot to mention that I want to try Woolworths, but I do not know if the SIMs are 65k or 128k - I want to use it for LTE in Cape Town.

Not sure about woolworths. Never looked for SIM cards there. Try CNA.

No idea if woolies sells sim cards, but there's a Vodacom shop anyway.

Both 64k and 128k will work with Vodacom LTE. I can't confirm this cause I don't have Vodacom LTE coverage but it has been reported many times here.

I currently use Vodacom LTE on a 64K simcard. I have a hunch that Vodacom don't even do 128K SIMs.

I strongly advocate against using SIM cutters. I had a case recently which caused a lot of headaches. Cut the SIM to nano and had sound issues. By fluke I removed the SIM and noted everything was fine again. I paid for a nano SIM and won't cut one again.

Edit: I'm not certain if Vodacom allow the LTE VAS service on prepaid...

They do. Once the sim is put into a LTE device you get a SMS within 5min saying LTE VAS service has been activated. I confirmed it was activated on my prepaid sim via vodacom.co.za under services. :)
