I need a bit of help here with my dad's phone
It's a Samsung galaxy ace running stock andriod 2.2.1.Well the problem is the battery life the phone lasts only 1 day on standby no calls or sms he took it away they replaced the battery but still the same problem.I'm thinking it might be the sim since changing the sim from the virgin one to a voda one the one lasted 7 days on standby but when the virgin sim is back in it only lasts 1 day.I have done a full reset before this test and no apps installed stock standard.
So what could this problem be causing it? is it the sim ? http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/images/smilies/confused.gif

Never heard of a sim card draining the phones battery , perhaps whoever the phone was sent to did not change the battery ?
Or
Theres a service in the background chowing the battery, (but if u say the phone was reset to stock - can rule that out)
Perhaps try see if theres a sw update for the phone ?

have you checked to see if the background data and app syncing is enabled? disabling this will save a lot of power. I also use the app 'Juice defender' and set it to disable data when the phone is locked and to enable data every 15 minutes, works great!

Possible explanation, that phone is continuously searching for 3G signal. That would draw battery quickly. Do you have 3G signal on the phone? I think Virgin is still not allowed (only 2G), 3G is present but phone is denied to register.
Disable 3G network search in network preferences (it must be such menu item), allow only 2G (or GSM) with GPRS/EDGE.
