Hi there guys,

I wonder if you can assist please? Is it at all possible to receive from Telkom (If anybody would know), a sim card to use in a router if I have uncapped ADSL at home? This sim card would be linked to my uncapped line, so I don't pay two subscriptions.

I travel a lot and don't really make use of my home ADSL.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I'm not sure that I understand what you mean.

Do you need the 3G simcard as a backup in case of ADSL failover?

If so, just go get a prepaid Telkom simcard and insert it into your router when you lose ADSL connectivity. Buy a data bundle online. Make sure it's RICA'd and activated, and make a phone call using it so the guys at Telkom that they know that they have to keep it active. (You can browse free to the Telkom website when ADSL is down and pay via card for your data bundle).

It's called an integrated SIM.

With the Telkom Integrated Data service you will be able to access your Telkom Internet fixed data bundle from any mobile device, such as a WiFi router, Tablet or 3G USB modem, via a Telkom Internet SIM. This means that you will still be able to connect to the internet at home with your fixed Telkom Internet data when your DSL service is not working. You will also be able to use the Telkom Integrated Data service when you are on the move. Please note that your Telkom Internet SIM will only work on the Telkom 3G/LTE network. Click here to confirm 3G/LTE coverage.

If you subscribe to a SoftCap product, you will be able to access your fixed monthly Telkom Internet data bundle via your fixed line or any mobile device.*

If you subscribe to an Uncapped product, the following data amounts were allocated for use to your Telkom Internet SIM (dependent on your existing Uncapped bundle)

Not quite,

Sorry, should have phrased this better.
I mean, can I obtain a sim card to use from my "ADSL data" which is linked to the same number?

Not sure if I'm making sense?

It's called a integrated data sim and only works with Telkom Internet data accounts.

Capped accounts give the best value as all data can be used. 10MB uncapped is limited to 5GB/5GB normal/nightsurfer per month, 4MB & 2MB uncapped get less but not sure how much.
