Sim card not recognised

I just got my BB 9300 Curve from MTN on contract. Problem is that it does not recognise my old sim. Must I get a special sim for Blackberry and BIS? If so, I wish it was told to me by the attendants in store.

I put my 3G data sim card in, and also my Vodacom sim card. Same thing, no sim inserted!

Dude... ensure that the SIM is in the right way. Have 2 HTCs and swapped the SIM last night... and opps... put it in the wrong way. :D Too used to the current phone.
 
Normal sim. Sounds like the phone is faulty. You have 7 days for an Out of Box return. Excluding the day of purchase.
 
Nope, nothing special. Never heard from the many dozens of people I know who have upgraded to BB complaining about their existing SIM not working. Only possibility I see is your SIM has been disabled or its an old SIM that only works with 20yr old phones.

Insert card FAIL, you doing it wrong! No other reasonable answer, or maybe just try wiping the chip with your t-shirt and see if it helps.
