Good to see the Sim only product:

R999 for 2 Gb per month - 24Gb total
R1999 for 5 Gb per month - 60Gb total

Now that looks decent :)

OOB usage is prepaid too, so no nasty surprises.

Can't see anything on carry over though...

Lets PLAY this Game Properly Guys & Girls

Here's the Deal.

All of us that are using MTN & VodaCom for prepaid Internet bundles.

We go and purchase Data only Bundles if your modem is 900mhz Compatible and you have HSDPA Coverage.

We use Cell-C for a year thereby putting the Hungry Dogs under pressure.

They will reduce Tariffs to match Cell-C because they are losing Customers.

We Forget Telkom-Mobile for a while with Good intentions in mind.

When the 12 months have finished Telkom-Mobile will be the Cheapest because they have to undercut everyone to get Customers.

We then move over to Telkom-Mobile.

Putting Cell-C under pressure still leaving the hungry dogs hungry.

Lets do it guys.

i'm definitely leaving vodacom 3g data bundles and going with the R1999 cell c deal. does anyone know if the sims are available yet, and where? i'm in durban. will check the local cell c shop this morning.

the guys at the cell c shop in pavilion said we can expect stock of the data sims and modems to arrive around the middle of this month...

Ha, I've sommer even just written Vodacom already just to inform them that I plan to jump ship from their 3G to Cell C's new deals 'as soon as I possibly can'.

Not sure if Telkom are even capable of operating in a more competitive market, but who knows theyr're under new management so anything's possible. I'll go wherever data is cheapest and quality/speed still 'reasonable'.

I agree with the plan 100 % and i am waiting for cell c to launch in joburg so that i can ditch vodacom.

Finaly i can rise my middle finger and tell empty-N and voda to cap their **s** am moving to cell c tired of being raped my pockets

What absolutely amazes me is the fact that one would expect that with the new and much cheaper player in the market actively trying to lure away their customer base, Vodacom and MTN would the very least be ensuring that their existing network performs at full speed and without problems. In my area Vodacom has gone from bad to worse over the past months and even 1.8 mbps is a pipe dream. Yet they brag about upgrading ALL the customers to 7.2 and 14 mbps. This tells me that they either really just don't give a damn, are making enough money and actually welcome the reduction in strain on the network by the users that will be leaving for Cell C, or that they just don't take Cell C seriously enough to consider them a threat to the market.

Either way, I really hope that Cell C and their new network will be the dawn of a new era in this regard by providing some REAL competition in the market and shake it up a bit, giving the stuffed shirts at the other two something to think about during their weekly, "lets keep our prices almost the same as each other" meetings!

The real question is:

Can we use the bandwidth like right now without having to first wait for the 4G network to launch in your area?
R1999 is lot to shelf out just to "test" if it's possible.

I've got a 3.6MBps Vodafone K3565 dongle which I bought recently. I want to go for the 2Gig Cell C package. Is it worthwhile paying the R500 extra for the 7.2 Cell C dongle for that extra speed, or should I just use my 3.6 dongle? I'm not a heavy user, so common sense tells me that my slower dongle will be fine, or is there something obvious that I'm missing here?

Hi tom110584
We're rolling out city-by-city, and the sims are currently available in PE, where the new network has been launched already. Our sims and dongles will be available in durban stores as soon as we launch our network in your city. Keep you eye on the local press for more details on city launch dates.

I would like to know from Cell C rep if it is possible taken the R1999 package 5 gig and using my very own HSDPA+ device or is the 5gig compulsory only for HSUPA Devices.

Hi RichardG

Yes, as long as the device is UMTS 900 capable – otherwise you will not get the best speed experience. We don't recommend it though, and we will obviously find it harder to provide support to you if any issues may arise from this.

Cell C Representative: Rough estimate—when in JHB?

I am sure that there are a lot of members on this forum would like to know this. Please provide an indication by when we could expect to have access to your new broadband service?
