Google chose Kenya as their base of operations in Africa. They then invested large sums of money into Kenya and as such Kenya's IT sector is booming. I'd go as far as to say that Kenya might be the "Silicon Valley" of Africa in the next few years.

Please tell me if the same would have happened if it were not for that evil western company called Google and their filthy US dollars.

This has nothing to do with Western/European colonization. How do you make the connection? Google is luckily not owned by the Government.

Companies are welcome to come in and set-up shop but they all have to be taxed correctly and they have to contribute some of their money and resources to build the country they are IN, much like they do in the other countries, they just can't come here set up a few labs, collect funds and call it even. No. They are here to make billions because we have billions.

I like how you list all these examples of successful African countries(Libya? Seriously?) that all heavily rely on foreign trade, investment and co-operation and how you then in the same breath declare we don't need foreign investment and that we should destroy all the development, money and knowledge they pump in here. Botswana, Kenya, Mauritius and South Africa are also the few African countries that have not(yet) completely decimated their banking industries with this naive nationalization catastrophes.

If even a seeming educated guy like you can believe this nationalization and isolationist bull**** all hope in this country is lost.

Libya is/was VERY VERY successful, please read up on it before the US/EU brainwashed you with their media control. Libya was very peaceful, did you not see the massive Pro-libya rally? Google youtube videos and hear the sickening interviews by the local libya people as they tell you that everything was fine with Libya. Relying on foreign trade, investment is part of the game. I think you people don't understand what it means to be colonized. Colonization is the reason the British nearly went bankrupt fighting the boars here inorder to remain control and reek the benefits decades later as they are now.

*I NEVER SAID WE DON'T NEED FOREIGN investments, how and why would one do that? We want people to come together but not in the NAME OF THE GOVERNMENT, please understand this. Corporations, companies, individuals etc can come and set-up shop, this is great for both sides but NOT THE FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS!!

All these companies here major ties to Europe including Telkom(check the major shareholders), Vodacom(need I say more?), MTN(India...but you get the point), Standard Bank and a hundred others. All of them can easily come here to start companies and take the money back to Europe to build amusement parks and such because of Colonization.

With that said, Libya's main source of "income" is Oil. They ranked #10 in the world in terms of export, think about how much money that is. Libya was also pushing to have Africans send people to space and they were willing to be the main funding source, Libya was a powerhouse and this is why US/EU had to destablize it, in the name of "democracy".

This is the truth, CNN/News24/eTV/SABC have clearly brainwashed the public, I urge all of you who care to not believe anything you hear on the news/newspapers because it is written in particular ways to pull on your emotions. Instead research the things that matter to you most online, the internet is a great source to debunk or verify "facts".

I'm struggling to understand what you're trying to say here. Are you saying these companies are welcome here or not? And if so how are local banks different?

Why is the US, the French, the rest of the NATO gang in North Africa when they clearly have financial problems of their own in their own backyards? I agree, the US and NATO gang are there for the oil. But a hell of a lot of Libyans want democracy too.
But that has nothing to do with this nationalization madness going around this country so lets ignore Libya for now.

If only their concerns were genuine. But I suspect that they are self serving because there is a dictator right next door to us. Afterall, there is nothing to gain from his country, so they pretend like he doesn't exist.

The country that is contributing the most to the NATO operations is surprisingly very far from Libya, in fact across the Atlantic. If Libya was Mexico then maybe I would understand.

I understand this country has allies who are right next door to Libya. So it's acting with those allies in the spirit of ubuntu.
