Simple, cheap router?

Also, when the Telkom guy comes to install my line, does he hook it up to my PC and get the connection working too? I heard you can do the line thing yourself, but I'd rather pay for this. Thanks again for all the help

its really easy to install yourself hey, its a hell of alot to pay for just 5 minutes work.

Edit: Okay, I've found the Telkom pdf that explains how to do it. Thanks.

That Trendnet model is not a DSL modem, it's a router you would still need to add a DSL modem to interface from it to Telkom. So it won't do for your needs.

D-Link DSL2500U - R270. Cheap / Futureproof / Simple.

You can get a gigabit wireless N super router when u need it and just add it on.

HOLD THE PHONE!!!

I just got back from the Telkom shop. They said they'd do my installation for free. When I asked why, they said that it's currently on promotion. Also, it'll be done within 3-5 days, probably coz I live in Richards Bay and not Durban.

The bad news is: I have to pay for a landline along with my ADSL line rental. I didn't know this. Altogether, it comes to R 280 excluding ISP.

Saliehendricks: I found the modem here for only R 229. The problem is: my pc is currently far from my telephone socket. Will the Telkom guy be able to relocate it?

If not, I still don't mind paying a little more for a modem with wireless, so the above link still looks like a good option. Maybe I should wait and see whether I'll need wireless for my pc or not.

Thanks. I've ordered it, though they said they will have to check first with suppliers before I get my quotation for the modem + shipping. I decided even if I don't need wireless at the moment, I'd rather have a modem which does the job of two pieces of hardware.

DGN1000 looks like a good all in one solution at a good price too - i am a fan of the all in one setup too. (Although I have a Dlink 2500 + DLink DIR655.)

If you are ordering a new line installation, then telkom will put that "new" cable anywhere you ask them.
