I believe the RRP is R2999 but would suggest you shop around as you might pick up a special deal.
There is a request being worked on for subsidised data cards for the smaller bundles.

so what the range of these data cards in 3g mode and then in gprs mode???
if i wonder out to the farm will i still be able to use either?
i've seen you can apparently make a call with a cellphone tower thats lke 35km away, but how about data? whats the max distances?

GPRS will be same as a GSM call, so if you have line of sight, the 35Km estimate is not far off.

LOS, to get maximum distance from any wireless device you will need LOS to the tower.
The further away you are the greater your packet loss will be, (assuming the signal degrades with distance as it should). The higher your packet loss the slower things will be.
Ultimately the tower will not be your limiting factor when it comes to maximum distances but rather the power of the device, in this case the datacard.
