My Dam work machine only has Adobe Raw Convertor, i am looking for something that would allow me to preview my RAW files much like you would jpgs.

Any Suggestions....

Irfanview i think is not an option - previous experience has indicated its invasive nature.

// Its always amusing when Windows software doesn't work...

Any further suggestions

Which brand camera are you using? Canon RAWs can be viewed with Zoombrowser EX which ships with new Canon cameras and is a free downloadable off the net.

Indeed. I have access to all of these, but what i am looking for is the ability to view RAW files as a thumbnail within a file - as you would jpgs

As already asked - what kind of camera?

Ah u mean you want it integrated with the shell (explorer) so that when you are browsing the files and u change the view to Thumbnail, that you see a thumbnail of the image?

Googled "cr2 raw shell extension" and found the following:

dpmagic
exifpro

Let us know what you find and if you try out any of these. The Official Windows one hasn't been updated since 2005 so it will not support any of the RAWs from recent cameras.

The windoze one stix found should have worked with Canon CR2 files. It does with mine.

If you're using Vista - just download the Canon RAW thing of their website - it then works exactly like JPGs - just slower.

doze:
faststone
xnview

linux:
gwenview with kipi plugins
xnview

i actually use faststone in an xp virtualbox on my linux machine.
