Ok so i have been "well at least tried to" following this thread for a couple of days now.

So I am taking the liberty to start a lean and clean thread to the people who have bought this product.

Easy as this ... you have bought the TV ... would you buy it again if you had the choice ? I don't want to hear oh my XYZ product is better than blah blah ... but i just want to confirm that people that bought this is happy, and that they also would buy it again if they had the choice.

So Yay or Nay ? :D

Don't think I actually need to answer your question, but yes... every time.

I'm done with paying a premium merely for having a 'name' on anything. I'll do my research, consider all options and take whatever offers the best value. :)

i'm happy with mine - I love sinotec because it lets the non-Super rich people get to have a monster of a 42" screen as well, at FullHD.

I do not care about those that say samsung is better, my set looks schweet with FullHD Media such as games running at 1920x1080, blu-rays and even Hi-def Series - and thats all I care about.

for the cost of a 42" Sinotec LCD you would only get a 32" Sony/Samsung/LG/Sharp/Panasonic/Whatever "big brand"

i'm sure that answers whether i would "buy it again if i had to go back in time"

EDIT: Told ya matt - glad you like it.

mmmm... I'm having conflicting views myself, just watched the rugby on the Sammy, hell it's ducking lovely.

Went to the room and starting re-watching the same game on the Sinotec and it's simply not as vibrant!!!! Duck, but at R8k I would buy another.

Thing is am I going to return the Sinotec and swap it for a Sammy Plasma and pay in R2k and still have 2 year less warranty and HD Ready vs full HD??!!! Eish...

Bare in mind I don't use it for gaming or pc at all... Strictly tv...

It depends on distance from the screen.
See here: http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/12/09/1080p-charted-viewing-distance-to-screen-size/

Rule of thumb: UNLESS you sit within 3.5 screen heights of your set, you will not benefit from FULL HD.

If you really want FULL HD, sell the Samy and the Sinotec and buy a FULL HD Samsung 50 inch plasma for R18K.

Just posted in the other thread. I am going to get the Sammy 50 inch full HD on Tuesday. Am getting it at about 16500 + 2000 for extended warranty.

Still hope I am making the right choice wrt Full HD Plasma vs Full HD LCD...

Yip, Plasma ftw. Personally I don't get LCD. The only advantage is the anti glare nature of the LCD screen and perhaps the shelf life but other than that Plasma is superior and full HD too so 1920 x 1080 res...

Check the graph - at 1.5m or 5ft the benefit of 42 is noticeable.

Too lazy to

What's the best distance to watch 42" LCD Full HD and how high should I mount my screen from the ground?

Had this - returned it and got the LG 42" Plasma. I'm much happier, the picture is way, way better.

Rule of thumb is to watch the HD within 3 to 3.5 screen heights - ie it depends on the size of your screen. Watching from further away makes picture resolution less important ie you may as well watch 720p and even SD.

Don't be lazy to look at the graph. It's easy. One axis plots distance in feet, other screen size. To calculate feet to meters, use google.

He got the FULL HD plasma, you know they do exist and they're not that much more expensive, plus they come in 50 inches plus. I know Hitachi tried to do 42 inch FULL HD but it ended up being too expensive. Full HD plasma means at least 50 inches not 32 or 42 or 46. Plasma is better picture, and better value.

LCD is only popular because its being pushed by ads, shills and pundits.

I was told recently by somebody at Audio Vision that Panasonic should have new plasma stock in the country this month.

50" Panasonic Plasma FTW.
Sorry will cost more than the Samsung, but should have 4 year guarantee or at least the old stock did.

Hi,

Yes, Panasonic plasmas will be available again at the end of August or begin of September. Audio Vision have a container of 800 units (exclusive to Audio Vision). After that, other suppliers will also begin to get stock.

AFAIK, the two screens will be the 42C10 (HD Ready for around R12999) and 50S10 (Full HD for around R18 to R20k can't really remember exact price) - others might be available too - possible another 42" version (maybe hull HD - 42S10).

While I agree with you 100% the one thing I'm having a hard time with is the glare, damn it's annoying unless I'm watching tv at night. If I watch during the day I got to draw the curtains which is a bit depressing...

Oh, because of the glass? More expensive LCDs are also lined with glass.
