Sky train proposed for Cape Town

Could work. If it is affordable, safe but above all, reliable, it could definitely be a viable solution for many. Not sure how the taxis would feel about this (not that I care about them) given that if this works, it could siphon off several hundred (or potentially thousands) of their customers.

If any other city in SA were proposing this sort of thing I'd be laughing.

Cape Town does desperately need something like this. Traffic in the city is an absolute nightmare.

agree, Cape Town needs to take an approach to become the ultimate destination for ingenuity and transport solutions.
Cyril and his nonsense megacities and bullet train mumbo jumbo can go jump.
Cape Town, I beg you, tell national government to get shafted and make us the best city for transport, period.

That was my first thought as well - they won't sign off on this.
I'd love to see this happen, though!
