Hi guys,

Quick question - does anyone know more or less when we can expect to start seeing 6th gen i7 & i5 Skylake laptops locally? So far there only seems to be a very limited choice, mostly MSI.

One I'm keen on at the moment - Dell Inspiron 7559: Amazon Link

Thanks,
:)

There's this one that I know offhand:

Haven't seen many others. You can also use Laptop Direct's listings to figure out when something becomes available to distributors locally, since they typically enter every model into their database regardless of whether they actually have stock or not. if there's a new listing that appears that wasn't there before, then chances are one of the distributors for that brand is preparing to stock it, or has it in stock already.

Core i7 quad: http://www.laptopdirect.co.za/lapto...68&osD=0&opticalD=0&NarrowOptions=Please+wait

Core i5 dual: http://www.laptopdirect.co.za/lapto...UType=70&opticalD=0&NarrowOptions=Please+wait

Gigabyte Skylakes are landing soon, in January I heard.

And got a friend working in one of the vendor, he said Skylakes CPU still has quite a few issues that would cause blue screen or system hang, that's why you don't see many available yet.

That makes me wonder why MSI can get them ready and shipped so quickly before others.

It's either they didn't detect it or is completely solved. Hope is the latter.

They will disable some power management features and will push product to be first on the market. Others will wait for Intel to get product working as advertised.

Was also thinking of waiting till the new skylakes arrive. But I'm not so sure that will be a wise decision anymore, since the exchange rate is getting worse everyday. And who knows what it will be in January?

Is that legit? Guess it is.... Lol

It nearly hits 16 rand against 1 US dollar.

Some say 18 soon. I doubt that.

Where are you guys seeing these problems, and with which vendors? What issues are they specifically?

I heard there are suspected CPU bugs, but problem shows in Windows 10. Microsoft blame hardware, let them solve it between Intel and Microsoft. :)

I also want to know?

Heard where, can you link to where MS is blaming the issue on hardware?

What people do when experiencing BSOD under Windows? Do they go to Intel? Nope, they go to Microsoft. Then people start whispering it is a CPU fault. What do you think, where it comes from? :)

Okay, so show me one memory dump which implicated Skylake as the culprit with MS issues.

Why don't you consider MSI?

Just overheard that Asus will only introduce their Skylakes in end of first quarter due to massive inventory of Broadwell and Haswell. Hope thats not true.

Still buggy. However Microsoft Surface is there, they don't seem to care.
