Just go with skype on a smartphone maybe?
Just FYI, Skype on iOS (ipad) works much better than on Android (Nexus 10/HTC One X) in my experience. Video calling is an added bonus over standard fixed line/mobile calls, it's worth the extra cost (besides you can do voice only calls to conserve bandwidth when needed).
The iPad is much more user friendly than Android devices. It is pretty tech-idiot proof. I got my 67 year old mom who can't use a computer an iPad and she learned how to use it pretty quickly. She first tried my old galaxy tab and that was never going to work. iOS is more intuitive, and that's coming from an Android phone/tab user.
All subjective.
I got my wife an iPhone 5 as an upgrade to her S2. Lasted 8 hours and I traded it for an S3 (plus cash). She found it totally non intuitive and frustrating.
I got a 64Gb iPod for my car on sat. Still trying to figure out how to get my music on it. On my S4, I just plug it into my computer and copy. Again - not intuitive at all.
When I have some time to Google and read manuals, I will figure it out.
Ah, you don't have your music in iTunes - if you did, you just drag and drop
Got 74Gb of music in iTunes.
Drag and drop to where?
Connect iPod to PC (I assume PC) while iTunes is open.
iPod will appear in the information bar on the left - select and drag music from your music library onto the the iPod.

Ah Mike, you're just anti apple products. Your view is pretty clear from your other posts. I've probably owned and played with more different Android tablets and iPads than 99% of people out there considering I've been selling tablets for years and, so my subjective view is pretty spot on when it comes to ou toppies. Android is a nightmare to teach most 60+ year olds. iOS is just generally easier to use for tech-stupid people. I use Android personally (phone + tab) although my computers are mostly macs, so no apple fanboi here.
