Finaly an application that allows you to make use of skype on your mobile.

Has anybody else tested this? I have made a few calls and its not too bad when I am connected to Vodacom 3G. There is a bit of a lag, but its not much worse than skype on my PC. It also supports google talk.

I would also like to know how/if it actually works without 3G, ie if you are in a GPRS only area.

I think its time i start buying some skype credits....

I would love to try it, but I am normally a bit sceptical to give out my cellnumber

Well then pay the ridiculous cellphone rates :o

I think its worth it, but only if you are already a skype user. Its great to have this application on your mobile though. I think the performance will be a lot better once we have HSDPA enable handsets...

I think the app is only written for S60 2nd Edition devices, like the N70, N90 and the other phones they mention there. The N80 and well AFAIK all the N phones not mentioned there are S60 3rd Edition.

I tried it, works real nice. Just need to get a MTN Data bundle then will play around with it.

Do you have to have a Skype account to make calls?
What about making calls to non-Fring users or landline numbers - do I need a Skype account for that?

yeah, Skype to Skype is free (from Skype point of view) and other destinations is Skype rates.

You still pay Vodacom/other operator for data usage.

how many Mb's / Kb's do you use per minute?

Has anyone tried with a S60 3rd Edition phone (eg. N80) yet?

it should be simular to skype on a pc. 1mb gives you about 5 minutes talk time. but i would confirm first before getting carried away. Anybody know how we could get some accurate stats?
